The students of Public Health Dentistry conducted free dental camp 0n 24th November 2016 at Shri Khongurunathar Primary School located at Thozur . The main motto of the camp was to create awareness among the children to brush their teeth properly and to main a good oral health. They were demonstrated and trained how to brush their teeth. About 405 children were benefitted out of this camp.
HISTOPATHOLOGY SLIDE READING SERIES PART III- Soft Tissue Pathology
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Saveetha Dental College conducted Histopathology Slide Series, Part 3 Soft tissue Pathology on on 22nd November 2016 (Tuesday) between 9:00 AM and 3:00 PM. Slide viewing and diagnosis is an integral part of the field of Oral Pathology as Histopathology is the gold standard for Diagnosis.Hence following the previous 2 parts of Slide reading, the next was on soft tissue pathology.

PSG Institute of Medical Sciences & Research, Peelamedu, Coimbatore followed by Dr. M.P. Brundha MD (Path), DNB Asst Professor, Department of Pathology, Saveetha Medical College, Chennai. The session was moderated by Moderated by Dr. Pratibha Ramani MDS, DNB, PhD Professor and Head, Department of Oral Pathology Saveetha Dental College, Chennai.
The afternoon session involved facilitator mediated small group interactive slide viewing. The participants were divided into ten groups and provided individual microscopes and slides so as to understand the slides further and clarify their doubts with the concerned facilitators. There was a highly interactive discussion following the slide viewing and many doubts were clarified by the moderators as soft tissue pathology is highly complicated and difficult to diagnose.
"We smile when you smile" Program at Government High School, Nemilicherri
The student of Government High school located at Nemilicherri, Tiruvallur District Chennai were given oral health education on 23th November 2016. The children were screened and given basic oral health. They were educated on the importance of maintaining a good oral health. The students were provided with free treatment cards to avail oral treatment at Saveetha dental college. 123 students were benefitted out of this camp.





Oral health camp at Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurveda College & Hospital, Nazarathpet
Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Ayurveda College and hospital students were given free oral health education on 22nd November 2016. The awareness of oral health was provided by interacting with the students and showing demonstrations. The students were also taught about the brushing techniques and how to maintain a good oral hygiene. About 177 of them were benefitted out of this camp

Saveetha University 29th Founders Day was celebrated on 18th of November 2016. Mr. Sollear Uzhavan K Chellamuthu, Leader of Tamilnadu Vivasaya Sangam was invited as the Chief Guest to preside the grand celebration of our Saveetha University. The achievements of the faculty, students and supportive staffs of the Saveetha University were recognised by giving away prestigious awards on this occasion.
"Good Teeth; Good Smile" Program at Loyola International School
The department of Public Health Dentistry celebrated Children's Day at Loyola International on 14.11.2016 by providing free dental care. The children were screened of their dental health and given basic education and treatment to create awareness. They were taught about the techniques of brushing and shown demonstration on how to maintain a good oral health. On the occasion of celebration the children were entertained by conducting a colouring competition.
Noombal, Grace Super Market employees get oral health care
The employees of Noombal, Grace Super Market were provided oral health care on 11th of November 2016. The employees were screened and provided basic oral treatment. The students of Public Health Dentistry who provided the dental care for the employees exhibited demonstration on how to maintain a good oral hygiene. They were also taught on the brushing techniques. About 116 of them were benefitted by this camp.
Continued oral care camp at Loyola International School
Dental camp was continued at Loyola International School on 11th of November 2016. About 311 students got benefited out of this camp. The Post graduate students of Public Health Dentistry demonstrated on how to maintain a good oral hygiene and gave training on the techniques of brushing their teeth.

About 311 students got benefitted out of this camp. The student of Public health Dentistry demonstrated and gave training on brushing techniques and basic oral health education.
Oral care for Lakshmi Airtel distributor agency employees
The employees of Lakshmi Airtel distributor agency located at Porur were given free dental care on 9th November 2016. The employees were screened and given basic treatment procedures. They were shown demonstrations on how to brush their teeth and maintain a good oral health. About 44 employees were benefitted by this camp. They were also given free treatment cards.
Free Dental Camp at Schram Academy
Free dental care was provided to the students of Schram Academy situated at Maduravoyal,Chennai on 8th November 2016. The students were given training on how to brush their teeth and they were educated about oral hygiene and how to maintain a good oral health. About 170 students were benefitted out of this camp.
National Tooth Brushing Day Celebrated at SDC
As a part of Social responsibility and service Saveetha Dental College and hospital celebrated the National Tooth Brushing on 7th of November 2016 to create awareness and importance of oral health care. There were posters and demonstration held at the OP reception by the Department of Public Health Dentistry. The public were also taught about the techniques on how to brush their teeth. Our College Dean Dr. N D Jayakumar gave free samples of the toothpastes and brushes to the public.
Tooth Brushing day celebration at Milton primary school
As the continuation of the celebration of National Tooth Brushing Day on 7th November. The Public Health Dentistry department students provided oral health education at Milton Primary School located at Saligramam, Chennai on 5th of November 2016. The students were provided with free tooth brushes and toothpastes. The students were taught about the techniques on how to brush their teeth.
Tooth Brushing Day Celebrated by students of SDC
The Department o Public Health Dentistry celebrated National Tooth Brushing day (November 7th) at Mahatma Gandhi High School (SEED ORGANISATION), Kuthambakkam Village by distributing tooth pastes and tooth brushes. They were also given basic oral health education and also taught about the brushing techniques. About 64 students were benefitted by this camp.

Dr. Anitha Roy, Assistant Professor, Department of Pharmacology received Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Award for Best Teaching Excellence for the year 2016. She received the award on 22nd October 2016.

The department of Public Health Dentistry conducted a dental Camp at Cs central Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Mannurpet on 4th November 2016. The students were taught how to brush their teeth and to maintain a good oral hygiene. They were also given treatment cards to avail free treatment at the Saveetha Dental College and Hospital. Ortho PG won Best Student Scientific Poster award
Dr. Prasad Ravichandran Post graduate student from the department of Orthodontic won best Scientific Poster award at the 10th International Cleft Lip,Palate & Craniofacial Congress. The conference was held at Hyatt Regency, Chennai on 24th & 25th of October 2016. He presented on the topic "Prevalence and pattern of Tooth genesis in Cleft lip and palate patients".
Oral care education for Balaji Nursery and Primary School
Free dental camp was conducted at Balaji Nursery and Primary School situated at Pulianthope on 28th October 2016 . The children were taught how to brush their teeth and maintain a good oral hygiene. 371 students were benefited out of this camp and they were provided with dental treatment card to avail free treatment at Saveetha Dental College.
